NETS Work-Home Resources

NETS Work-Home resources provide employers and their employees with information on a variety of traffic safety-related topics to minimize crash-risk, reduce injuries and fatalities.  These programs can improve the safety and health of employees on and off the job, their family members, and members of the community in which they live and work.

Motor vehicle crashes cost employers a staggering $60 billion each year. One-third of the cost to employers, or some $20 billion results from off-the-job injuries to workers and their benefit-eligible dependents.  NETS Work-Home resources are designed to help employers reduce their risk by educating employees, their families and members of their communities about safe driving practices.

Bicycling is an age-old American activity enjoyed by children and adults—85 million adults and children ride their bikes every year----a half million employees bike to work in the United States. While biking is a lot of fun and a healthy transportation alternative, there are safety risks.  Whether your employees bike for work, to and from work, or solely for recreational purposes, support your workforce, their families and your community by being a bicycle-friendly employer.  The NETS Bicycle Safety Resource Center for Employers is an online source of information reviewed and compiled to raise awareness and advance bicycle safety through the workplace.

Novice Driver's Road Map
The Novice Driver's Road Map:  A Guide for Parents is designed to provide the missing link in a novice driver's education - practice. This booklet helps parents or an adult coach guide the novice driver through a series of eight practice drives beginning in an empty parking lot and progressing to residential streets, and finally to freeway driving. The Coach's Game Book contains valuable information on:  being a positive role model, typical teen driving behaviors, promoting safe driving practices, and a teen/parent driving agreement.  The Road Map can be purchased individually by parents or other concerned adults or employers and other organizations can purchase the Road Maps in volume for distribution.  UPS, Monsanto, Anheuser-Busch and other employers provide the Road Map to their employees with children approaching the licensing age.

Teens at Risk: A Comprehensive Plan to Prevent Underage Drinking & Driving
Teens at Risk: A Comprehensive Plan to Prevent Underage Drinking & Driving is a practical, how-to guide to deliver underage drinking and driving information to parents where they spend most of their time—at work. This guide includes effective messages for employers to reach employee-parents through e-mail, paycheck stuffers and more. There is also a section for community organizations outlining how to partner with employers to reach working parents and raise awareness about this issue locally. To complete the guide, a “take-home” section is provided for parents, filled with useful information and resources to help them be informed about underage drinking and driving, as well as communication strategies to discuss these issues with their children.  Employers—use this resource to educate your workforce about underage drinking and driving and help to keep their children safe on the road.
