Be
Ready. Be Set. Be Focused.
Because
you never know what you may encounter on the roadway. |
|
|
When
it comes to driver distraction, we’ve come
a along way from just tuning the car radio. Today,
as we spend more time behind the wheel, it is common
to see drivers eating meals on the run, checking
voicemails and e-mails from cell phones, adjusting
navigational systems, and engaging in other dangerous
distractions.
Now, more than ever, it is important that drivers
prepare themselves for the unpredictable behaviors
of other drivers, disabled vehicles, spilled cargo,
adverse weather conditions, and other potential
dangers that they may encounter on today’s
roadways. Being focused allows motorists to react
quickly and correctly in any situation.
Officially
observed on October 3-7, 2005, employers joined
together and encouraged their employees to be ready,
be set, and be focused on the roadways in honor
of the 9th annual Drive Safely Work Week campaign.
DSWW 2005 addresses driver focus and the importance
of devoting one's full attention to the driving
task at hand.
Each year, the Network of Employers for Traffic
Safety (NETS) sponsors this life saving campaign
to help employers promote safe driving practices
within their place of business. By participating
in the campaign, employers are working to improve
the safety and health of their employees and reduce
traffic-related deaths and injuries in their workforce. |
